The Seth Michaud Emergency Medical and Dental Facility at Djibouti is a highly demanding military healthcare infrastructure project, delivered in a context of elevated operational intensity and limited supporting infrastructure, within the broader framework of facilities developed by the U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC). NAVFAC operates as the central authority responsible for the planning and delivery of critical military infrastructure worldwide, enforcing stringent standards for resilience, operational safety, interoperability, and uninterrupted support of military personnel in remote operational theaters. Within this context, the Djibouti project requires solutions capable of withstanding extreme climatic conditions, high security requirements, and continuous operational use. We undertook the implementation of the standing seam roofing system, delivering a high-performance building envelope with a strong emphasis on weather tightness, thermal behavior, and long-term resistance to corrosive maritime and desert environments. The selected system aligns with NAVFAC’s strict specifications for durable, low-maintenance, and highly reliable construction solutions. Through technical precision and specialized expertise in complex international projects, we contributed to the delivery of an envelope that supports the operational continuity of a critical healthcare facility, where architecture and construction function as an active component of the mission-driven support system for personnel operating under conditions of isolation and operational pressure.
