Stelios Ioannou Learning Resource Centre

The Stelios Ioannou Learning Resource Centre at the University of Cyprus is a landmark work by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, who rather than imposing a monumental structure onto the campus, conceived a building that dissolves into the earth. Inspired by the natural topography and colours of the surrounding landscape, Nouvel approached the project as an "earthwork" — a gentle echo of the characteristic hills of the Nicosia plain. The four-storey building, covering 14,800 sq.m., houses a library, an information systems centre, a centre for teaching technology and a language centre, with approximately 900 study seats equipped with modern technology. As part of this internationally acclaimed project, we undertook the building envelope roofing trapezoidal sheets and skylights, delivering a solution combining technical excellence and aesthetic harmony with the exacting demands of an architectural landmark of global significance.
