The Faculty of Engineering — University of Cyprus
- Nicosia Cyprus
The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Cyprus in Nicosia is an emblematic academic complex of international architectural recognition, redefining the concept of the university campus through a strong spatial and environmental composition. The project is organized into three distinct academic units, interconnected by a dynamic central public axis, forming a multi-layered system of circulation, interaction, and spatial experience, where architecture operates as an instrument of pedagogy and social connection. Within this framework, we undertook the implementation of the Kingspan standing seam roofing and cladding system, contributing to the construction of a unified and high-precision architectural envelope that integrates seamlessly into the complex geometry of the campus. The façade’s materiality enhances the clear rhythm of the volumes while simultaneously functioning as a technically advanced envelope with high performance in weather tightness, durability, and energy efficiency. In direct dialogue with the extensive shading systems and variable louvers of the project, the standing seam metal skin operates as a stable yet discreet architectural backbone of the composition, reinforcing the relationship between technology, environment, and academic function. The result is an envelope that does not merely serve as protection, but actively participates in shaping the spatial and climatic experience of the entire complex.
